Collaboration

NCOPP works closely with other pathology professional and industry bodies to advance pathology in Australia and to provide a public sector perspective.  An important forum is the Pathology Associations Council (PAC). 

NCOPP participates as a recognised stakeholder representing the interests of the public pathology sector in the committees and forums of  the:

  • Australian Commission on Saftey and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) –  on national safety and quality standards for health services including microbiology structured requests and reports hoe healthcare associated infections.
  • Health Workforce Australia (HWA) – on a national training plan and Australia's pathology workforce.
  • National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) –  through its Stakeholder Reference Forum and Diagnostic Services Review Group as it develops national standards, specifications and infrastructure requirements for the effective exchange of information electronically across the Australian health care sector and the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records (PCEHR) system.
  • National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA)  – as the national laboratory accrediting authority.
  • National Blood Authority (NBA) – through its Professional and Community Advisory Forum and other activities as it works to ensure that Australia has an adequate, safe, secure and affordable supply of blood and bood products and services and promotes safe and high quality management and use. 
  • Standards Australia (SA) – through its Committee HE-029: Clinical Laboratory Testing and In Vitro Diagnostic Test Systems and other standards development and international collaboration activities.
