Representation
NCOPP is represented on or provides nominees to a number of Australian Government advisory groups that help shape pathology policy and practice.
- National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) - the national standards setting body for safe and quality laboratory practice in Australia that brings together representatives of the Australian, State and Territory governments as well as professional organisations (providers and requesters) and consumers.
- Pathology Agreement Advisory Committee (PAAC) - that oversees and provides advice to the Australian Government on the five year Pathology Funding Agreement between the Government and the pathology sector that commenced on 1 July 2011. NCOPP is one of the Agreement signatories. PAAC is supported by several advisory committees that cover demand management, finance and workforce.
- Quality Use of Pathology Committee (QUPP) - that oversees the Quality Use of Pathology Program (QUPP) funded by the Australian Government to improve health and economic outcomes from the use of pathology in health care through the pursuit of better practice amongst referrers and providers of pathology services and engaged consumers.
Members work closely with States and Territories to advance the delivery and use of pathology in public hospitals and health services under the National Healthcare Agreements.
